To care for the soul we must observe the full range of all its colorings, and resist the temptation to approve only of white, red and orange – the brilliant colors. “The soul presents itself in a variety of colors, including all the shades of gray, blue and black. “The goal is not to make life problem-free, but to give ordinary life the depth and value that comes with soulfulness.” (4) I have found it very important to honor the symptoms in my everyday life. In class we need to honor what is going on in our minds, bodies and souls, even if that means dealing with something very painful or admitting that we feel “okay” today. This can be done in class and in our everyday lives. Thomas Moore states that we need to honor our symptoms, as if they are a voice from our soul and to then go with the symptoms & flow with them. It is so important to not only honor each other, but also to acknowledge and honor ourselves. After an incredibly generous and emotional exercise we all honor and acknowledge each other. Recently we added something to the end of The Confession Circle exercise. The work done in The Lucid Body demands a delicate balance of action and intelligence, which calls on one’s intellect and soul alike to show up full force. ![]() “What we need is soul in the middle to hold together the mind and the body.” (preface)Īccording to Jung, Self is a “fulcrum of action and intelligence that feels the weight both of the soul and of the intellect” (page 120) and The Lucid Body can be defined in the same way. ![]() The soul lies midway between understanding and unconsciousness neither mind nor body, but imagination. With care The Lucid Body gives our demons room to breathe and eventually escape. We do this because we can’t just “think” ourselves through something. We do this using our bodies in movement, sound and ritual. Time in any Lucid Body environment is spent caring for our souls, deeply & truly. When the soul is neglected it doesn’t just go away it appears symptomatically is obsessions, violence and loss of meaning. To live a completely healthy life we need to not only care for our mind & body, but for our soul as well. A guide for cultivating depth and sacredness in every day life
